Petit Peony Travels: Quintessential New England Getaway at Chatham Bars Inn
If you and your family are looking for a quintessential New England weekend getaway, look no further than the Chatham Bars Inn. The Bowen family had an amazing late-summer stay here in September, and we found the luxury, oceanfront property to be incredibly family-friendly – offering endless entertaining possibilities for our three young children, all while experiencing a memorable Cape weekend.
It was certainly one for the memory books!

Let’s face it, for kids, it’s all about the pool. Parents? It’s all about relaxation. The Chatham Bars Inn offers both with its incredible pool area, overlooking Chatham Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean. How can you go wrong here?
Hungry? The Chatham Bars Inn offers delicious dining possibilities that cater to the little ones, while offering an upscale, yet casual, dining experience for the entire family. We opted for the Sacred Cod Tavern, which offers a fantastic children’s menu and coloring activities, while also catering to our SEVERE nut allergy. It’s always a challenge traveling with Scarlett, and the Chatham Bars Inn staff really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable.

In the morning, be sure to grab breakfast in the main dining room. (We were delighted to find that children five-and-under eat for free, and have access to the complete buffet!)
What more could you say about the Chatham Bars Inn accommodations? Simply, they’re lovely. You can stay in the main hotel, which offers an exquisite, yet quaint, feel. It also has plenty of cozy, interesting rooms and fascinations for the kids to explore.
Or, if you’re traveling with a larger group or family, a seaside cottage may be the best choice! We stayed in a cottage overlooking the ocean, and it was perfect. Two queen beds, large bathroom, living room with a pullout sofa and a fireplace – perfect for a family of five!

The grounds are the perfect backdrop for family photos. We were able to shoot our Spring/Summer 2018 collection photos during our stay, and squeezed in a couple family shots!
