The Colony Hotel, Palm Beach, Florida
The Colony Hotel was as idyllic as it looks. An "Old Palm Beach" style hotel where you felt you took a trip back in time to experience retro, authentic American luxury. Every detail was thought of. From decor, to amenities, to ambiance, to food. We spent all of our time at the hotel, there really was no reason to leave when traveling with little ones!
I of course love bright colors and patterns, the fabric used in this hotel are fabrics professional home decorators use, a very nice personal touch. This hotel captured our hearts with details; MONOGRAMMED cocktail napkins and to go cups, beach towels and a complimentary beach bag, they even had sunscreen dispensers placed throughout the hotel. Our room was something out of a storybook. The children gasped when we walked in and kept commenting on all the colors.
When we first arrived, the kids were given backpacks with fun Colony treats; coloring books, colored pencils, a monkey stuffed animal, and a rubber ducky for our baby sister! The hotel had a picnic lunch packed in a PINK Yetti cooler, beach towels, and pink stripped beach chairs. We took a ride to the beach in their beach buggy. It was magic. The beach was a delight, as we searched for shells and ran around, but we spent the rest of our time at the pool. It is quaint, beautifully landscaped and has a side lawn with plenty of kid friendly games (bag toss, life size jenga, and ladder golf). If you are me, I rate hotels based on the lounge chairs. The Colony had the best lounge chairs of our travels to date. Plush, with green and white stripes and each chair had a side table for one of their delicious signature cocktails.
We dined poolside for every meal! The cuisine and wine selection were incredible. Again another reason why staying at the hotel for the entire getaway was lovely. The kids could play on the lawn while the adults cocktailed at the table, tasting upscale American bistro fair. Each night Scarlett had "the best pasta in town" Jack loved the chicken tenders and Kendal explored some grown up entrees. It was nice that real meals the kids would actually eat were offered while there were plenty of unique offering for adults- a rare find! We hope to make this trip a yearly tradition!
